Rhyme Scheme

Is there a rhyme scheme? If so, what is it? Does it fit any of the patterns you have been taught? How does it contribute to the effectiveness and enjoyment of the poem?

Ogden Nash wrote great poetry with the funniest rhymes ever. In his collection of poems entitled Under Water, Mr. Nash wrote with great humor about marine creatures and sea birds. He rhymes seagull with she-gull, talks about the shark whose bite is worse than his bark!

Rhyming poems are funny to read and exciting to write. If there is a scheme it would be start with a title and work your way through. When I am writing a rhyming poem I try to brainstorm words that have to do with my title and then I organize them into a poem. It sometimes helps me to have a two set poem. Like have every other rhymes this way and the other half rhyme the other way. It also helps to say the words you have already, because they switch on other words in your brain! That is how I write rhyming poems!

Rhyming poems are really funny. I enjoy them a lot because it is like reading with a flow to it. There are many rhyme patterns I use. One is mostly every line rhymes for a while then a change to another word with a different ending, and rhyme to that. (Ex. Chad is rad, not bad, not sad, but cool, not a fool.) Also, I rhyme every other line. (Ex. Chad is cool, not a fool).

My Robot by Shel Silverstein is made interesting by its' rhyming pattern. The pattern is that every two lines rhyme. If there was no rhyming in this poem it would be dull and un-enjoyable. Since it rhymes it sets a funny loose tone which allows you to enjoy the poem.

I think rhyme schemes are fun to read in poems. I liek using them too, but that takes away from the seriousness.A lot of poems I've read by Shell Sylverstine have rhyming in them, and tey're usualy humorous and fun to read.

In the poems that I have read (that rhyme), the lines usually rhyme every other one, or one after another. Sometimes the rhymes go on fo a couple lines but it makes it fun. A lot of times, rhymes in poems make the poem go by faster becasue it gives it rhythm and sort of like a beat. I think poems with a lot of rhymes in it don't give it a tone as serious as ones without rhymes. When I make ryhming poems, I write down the alphabet and if I need a word to rhyme with something, I go through the alphabet and see if the word makes sense.

RHYME SCHEME

Rhymes make poems and songs more fun! That's what makes them funny and special. If they didn't rhyme, you could be writing a story. It's so cool, sometimes, the way some words rhyme together, like "Forget about your algebra and calculus, You can always do your homework on the morning bus. Can't tell a verb from a noun, they're the nicest kids in town." That's from The Nicest Kids in Town from Hairspray. It's cool how the manage to rhyme clculus, which is really hard - and it makes sense. Rhyming is also good for voice. I think it's easier to use voice when you're rhyming, because it seems more fun and easy.

I love Shel Silverstien's way of rhyming he always uses humor and rhyme to give them a sence of tone and voice.
