In the book that I just read; The Terrorist by Caroline Cooney,there is a conflict at the end with two friends. A girl's brother has been blown up by a bomb that a terrorist gave him and his sister Laura wants to find who did it. A girl wants to use the dead boy's passport and the other girl realizes that the other girl killed her brother and they have a big fight about it in an airport where they almost get in a plane and leave the country.
There's another conflict in the same book where the boy's sister is suspecting everyone as a suspect in her brother's death and she asks her teacher about how maybe a classmate had something to do with the death and he starts screaming in her face about how she shouldn't be suspecting a fellow classmate and how her brother was a silly, stupid little boy and she runs out of the class and misses the rest of class. I think that these conflict s are interesting because, for the first one Laura has just pieced together all of the clues that the other girl has killed her brother and how everything fits. The other girl hires someone to kill her brother because she looked like him and so she could use his passport to get out of the country. The second one was interesting because it is strange that she is suspecting everyone she knows and goes to school with and that a teacher would yell at one of his students like that surprised me.

Through the 6 books in the "Shadow Children" series, there is one major conflict that last through-out all the books. In this book, the world is way over-populated and having third children is illegal. So, the main character, Luke goes to a school that is all kids with fake ID's due to being a third child. Through-out the series, Luke relizes he is not alone in this fight, and will fight with the "Population Police" and the government to get his freedom of being a third child.

In the book I'm reading now NORTH the main character Alvin has a major conflict with his mother which starts a chain of events that makes this story. Alvin is always being held irresponsible by his mother even though he is problably very responsible. His mother goes to great legnths to keep him away from trouble by not letting him go on the school field trip andhaving him walked to school by a lady even though it is only a few blocks away. After his mom goes crazy because a drug seller confronts Alvin he decides to run away to follow in the footsteps of his hero Matthew Henson and travel NORTH.
The book I'm reading is called Give me a hero by Patrick Alexander. In this book the main character, a theif known to the police as the Falcon and the police are the most apparent conflicting forces in the book. One of the backround battles going on is between the two political parties: the Republicans and the Democrats.

In the book I am reading which happens to be Wicked there is a major conflict. When Frex and Melina give birth to a child she is emerald green. Melina can't look at the child and the nanny wants to kill "it". They are not ok with the child’s color and they have to find out what to do with her and not let the neighbors know.

In a book I just started reading last week a new girl moves to town and there are 4 best friends who are inseperable. Their teacher sits the new girl at the lunch table with them and they are forced to be nice to her. But when one of the friends starts praising the new girl and the other tagging along whole the other two are left out in the dust, mad and unable to focus on the real problem at hand, which was that one of the four best friends could be moving to England. Hopefully in the end everything is resolved because the girl that could be moving to England was new to the school that year too.
In the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz there is many different conflicts thoughout the series. Alex Rider is a 14 year old spy working for MI6, a British goverment agency. MI6 sends Alex on various missions that nearly get himself killed. In the most recent book Alex gets sent into space to disarm a bomb in a space station. The main villian in this story in Nikolei Drevin a Russian billionaire.

In the book Perfect by Sara Shepard there is this big conflict between two best friends.Hanna had showed up to her friends party after she was univited. They start fighting in front of everyone. Then ...oops! Hannas dress rips and runs off.
I thought that was interesting becuse Hanna had thought they had both made up. They saw each other at the mall and they had both been nice.
A book that I recently read, "The House of the Scorpion" a conflict was going on in between a group of people who wanted to sacrifice an inocent boy and use his organs to replace some faulty ones in another patient, and the boy and all of his friends who want the kid to live. This conflict touches on the topics of right and wrong as the kid desperately tries to escape from this deadly destiny. The boy tries to find a way to escape so that he will not be sacrificed but, as the book goes on he soon discvers that there is no way to escape because of the hundreds of border gaurds hired to protect the property bouderies and make sure that this one boy stays trapped in this small area.

In the book im reading; The Secret Language of Girls by Frances O'Roork Dowell. In this book there is a conflict where Kate and Marylin live on the same street and a new girl moved in. Marylin really liked this girl and they started to be friends,but Marylin became a cheerleader and she and Kate haven't talked since the new girl moved in. Kate was mad that her friend wouldn't talk to her so she made new friends.

In the book I just read "Watch Them Die" by Kevin O'Brien there are many conflicts. One major conflict is a murderer keeps sending the main character Hannah videos that were set for death scenes, and then a person would die like that. It was a major conflict because she knew all of the people that died. Another major conflict is she couldn't go to the police because she ran away from her husband with their 1 year old son and got fake documents like a visa, passport and birth certificate for her son. This was bad because she couldn’t report anything to the police without losing her son and getting arrested.
I agree with everyone above, the conflict in books is very important. The book I'm currently reading is the Private series. The series is a lot like the Clique books, Gossip Girl and It Girl books. Its about a girl, Reed, who is new to a private school in Easton, CT (haha, I thought that was funny how she goes to Easton Academy in Easton, CT, since that's where HKMS is!) Anyways, she is trying to get in with the Billings Girls, who are pretty much the perfect kids of the private academy. She is always doing things for them, but then finally they let her into their soroity-dorm thing. She ends up fitting in with them and gets a really cool boyfriend and all that sorta stuff. Then, her boyfriend gets murdered..this happens at the end of one of the books and its like the big big BIG plot catch, because she's trying to figure out who murdered him, it ended up it was his brother! Well, the book is really amazing and it shows great conflict of death.
On what Ellie said-I have read the book Wicked too (and the sequel, Son of A Witch), I totally agree about how all of her worries and conflict are started off as from being Green, which isn't really fair! I recomend the book Wicked, too, if you like the Broadway show (:

Conflict in a book makes the book even more AMAZiNG. I just finished the book Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer, and the conflict in it keeps the story moving. One problem was when Bella, one of the main characters, wants to become a vampire like her boyfriend Edward. Edward, however, doesn’t want this for Bella because if he makes her a vampire she will go crazy and try to kill everyone. Another conflict is that Bella is friends with a boy named Jacob who happens to also be a werewolf. Because vampires and werewolves are archenemies, Edward doesn’t want Bella hanging out with him. This creates tension between Edward and Bella, so the story stays really exciting.

In the series Pendragon, the main character, Bobby's conflict in each book is mostly the entire planet he is on. Because, in the series he is trying to protect the people of each planet from destroying themselves. One example of that is in one of the books, people on one planet think they are helping their crops grow faster by using a special chemical. Later on in the book though, Bobby finds out it actally kills the person when they eat the the crops.

One novel that I recently read with a major conflict was Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. The problem was that an ancient group called the Illuminati planted an anti-matter bomb under Vatican City. Robert Langdon, a Harvard professor, is recruited to stop it from blowing up before it's too late. This book's dilemma was very memorable and was well written.

In the book I just recently finished, The Voice On The Radio by Caroline B. Cooney, there are a few conflicts. Janie starts living with her Connecticut family again while Reeve is in college in Boston. Reeve starts to work on a radio station brodcasting during the nighttime. Reeve starts telling the whole college campus about the "Janie's". Reeve told her whole story and Janie wants it to be kept private, but now everyone on campus knows who she is and what she looks like.
Janie wants to come and visit Reeve on campus but he insists she doesn't because there will be nothing for her to do etc. Instead, Jodi wants to go see some colleges in Boston and maybe go to the same college as Reeve. so Jodi, Brian, and Janie all go to Boston together. They stay at a hotel and they tuned into Reeve's station. They hear Reeve telling the Janie's and they get into a big fight and break up. she hates him. This book is hard to understand if you haven't read the first two books of the story.

A cool conflict that is occuring in the book i am reading(Alchemyst) there is the magical conflict between the dark elders, and the elders. The elders are many differnet gods that are well known and are just dipicted differently. Its really cool how they attack each other and its cool.
In the book I just read: Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer there is conflict between Edward and Jacob. Edward is a vampire and Jacob is a werewolf. Vampires and werewolves are enemies. They are both friends with a girl named Bella. Bella wants them to get along but they both think the opposite person is dangerous for her to be around.
I recently read a book by Alison Polett called "Nobody Was Here". Some conflict occured between the main character and her best friend. The main character, Penelope, did not like her best friend Stacy when Stacy decided to join a group of popular and snotty people. Penelope is too much of a follower to stand up for herself, so she doesn't, but along the way, Stacy critizes her a lot, along with the cliche of populars. A new girl named Cass is trying to teach Penelope to stand up for herself. A lot of conflict was in this book, which kept it interesting and suspenseful.
A Swiftly Tilting Planet by the recently deceased Madeleine L'Engle shows how violent the struggle between good and evil can be. Charles Wallace fights to save the world from an evil dictator named Madog Branzillo . In the end, good wins but not very easily.

The Valley of Adventure by Enid Blyton shows how greed and evil can cause suffering. When the jewel thieves capture the young heroes who have been trapped on the island, we sense their fear and we are sad because they are innocent people caught in the middle of a drama they did not make.

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle is a classic book about the conflict between good and evil. In the book, a young Charles Wallace has to save his father who has been captured by the Darkness, which is a symbol of evil. He finds that love is the only way to combat the Darkness. It is a very powerful book.

A conflict that I am currently reading is a common fight between sisters although this fighting is like no other. This fracas is from the suspenseful, amazing, makes you want to read more series Pretty Little Liars by Sara Sheppard. Spencer the little sister is competing with her sister from college. This battle is the battle of the brains and not just that, Melissa the one from college is using evidence from the past in high school to challenge Spencer's high school average. But, as the story goes on, Spencer gets much better SAT scores than Melissa did so as you can see, it’s going to get rough. Once Spencer starts beating her sister that is when everything gets dramatic. But there are also other conflicts in this book that lead the four girls downhill. I think this conflict is one that should not be going on because usually sisters get in big and little fights, silly and serious fights and fake fights but this one has been going on probably ever since Spencer was born. Battles between sisters should never go on this long. This is why I find this conflict the upmost odd and strange. And later on in the series the sisters have to get counseling but before that Spencer does something that leaves her parents talking but definitly not to her. But yet this book is a great novel for girls from seven all the way to a hundred. I also recommend this book and whole series to middle school girls that like to read something that is both surprising and yet funny. This is definitely a conflict to read all about.
i think a good conflict is between edward and jacob becuase they both like bella who is stuck between this fued ut edward /bellas boyfriend vampire does not want bella going near jacob/crazy warewolf friend of bella.
