Book Titles

If you could rename a book, what would you title it and why? Make sure you include the original author and title, as well as specific details from the novel to support your answer.

I have just finished a book called Magyk by Angie Sage and if I could change the title I would call it the Seventh Son because in the book they find out that Septimus heep the seventh son of the seventh son is pronounced dead at birth but he actually isn't dead(Jake T.)

I would rename the book Last Dance by John Feinstein. It is about the Final Four which is sometimes called the last dance, but I would name it Crunch Time because you have to play well or your team is eliminated. I believe that Crunch Time would be a better title for this book.

I"m reading reading a book called The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer. I think The House of the Scorpion is a good name for the book, but I also think The Unusual Clone would be a good name for the book. This is because the book is about a clone named Matt who is intelligent and has a mind of his own. Clones are supposed to have there brains damaged making them unintelligent. Since Matt is different than all the other clones, The Unusual Clone would be a good title.

I would rename the book "Pendragon: The Death Merchant". This book is about a teenager that tries to help a helpless tribe called the Milago rebel against a superior tribe of modern knights. I would rename this book "Pendragon: The rebellion of the Milago" because that's mostly what it's about.

If I had to, I would rename the book The King in the Window By Adam Gopnik. It is about a little boy who is thought to be the king of a world of people in glass, windows, and water. I would rename it Memories in Glass, because the people in the glass are of people from older ages.

If I could rename a book, I would change the title of the book "Code Orange" by Caroline B. Cooney to "The Victim of the Virus." I would rename this book because it is about a boy named Mitty Blake who finds an envolope labeled "smallpox scabs." After doing a research paper about smallpox, he realizes that he may be at risk of having smallpox. Since getting smallpox is impossible, he would be major attraction for tourists. Viruses spread very easily, so "The Victim of the Virus" is a perfect title.

If I could change a book title I would change Down the Rabbit Hole by Charles Abrahams. I would make the title An Echo Falls Mystery. During the whole book, Ingrid is trying to solve the huge mystery taking over her town... Echo Falls. The play is only a short part... Alice in Wonderland so I don't think that should relate to the title as much as it does.

If I could change the tittle of a book I would change the tittle of Slam by Walter Dean Meyers. I would change it to Tough Times. It is about a highschool student named Greg Harris. He is living in a rough environment with his poor family. He is a transfer student from the public school and is being forced to go to an arts school which he doesn't want to do. His only rest from his hard life is basketball. It's also his only way out of this small N.Y. apartment. This is why I would call this book "Tough Times".

I would change the title of Eldest, written by Christopher Paolini, to Thorn. I would change it to that because Thorn is the name of Murtagh, one of the main characters, dragon.

I would rename the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling because the "Deathly Hallows" is only one part of the book. I would rename it Harry Potter and the Last Quest because the majority is about going on a journey to find various items important to the story.

If I could rename a book title it would be from the book “Deliver us From Normal,” by Kate Klise. I would change the title because throughout that book no one is delivered from normal. The family wants to be normal but, it doesn’t work out that way. I would call the book, “Please, Make us Normal,” because it is what the story is about the family wanting to be normal.

If I could change the title of a book I would change "Inkheart." This is a very good book about a girl and her father who have the ability, when they read aloud, to make things come out of the book. I would change the title of this book to "Reading Aloud" because it sounds mysterious and has more to do with the book than the real title. When I go to the library I look for books with a title that catch my attention, which "Reading Aloud" would do.

I would rename the book Ink Spell, by Corneilla Funke, "Master of All Books" because the whole book has characters from different books and is based on different fantsy books.

A title I would change would be Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer to Bella's Disaster. The title Eclipse has nothing to do with the book, and I think the author chose that title because it just sounded good. Bella's Disaster would make much more sense because Bella has a lot of problems in this book.

I have just finished reading "Secret Revelations" by Criss Angel. I would change this book title to "Illusions of my Past." I would name it this because, the whole book is about Criss Angel's childhood, and he explains some of his early illusions that made a bid impact on his family, like when he levitated his mom on a standing broom.

A book that I have recently read was Where I'd Like To Be written by Frances O' Roark Dowell. If I had the opporitunity to change the title of this book I would name it The Foster Girl because it is about this foster girl and it doesn't tell any thing about a girl who picks where she would like to live.-Melissa B.

If I could make a new title for a book, I would definetely change the title of the first Cirque Du Freak Book by Darren Shan.( Cirque Du Freak Vampires Assistant) I would change the title to Cirque Du Freak, Mystery of the Magical Spider. I would do that for many of reasons. First of all, this spider is almost magical. It can listen to a flute and act how the person is thinking. Second of all, in my opinion, the spider is a motif throughout the series. It keeps coming back. Third of all, this spider changes Darren Shan's life and his friend Steve Leonard.

A book I have recently read is called Zlata's Diary by Zlata Filipovic. I would re name it My Life in War Time because the title" Zlata's Diary" doesn't give the reader any idea what Zlata's life is like. I think a title should give the reader some hint even if it is little to what might happen in the story. To me the title Zlata's Diary isn't that appealing. - Coly K

I think that the book Lush could be renamed Why?? because the main character, Samantha, is wondering why her dad always gets drunk, and is trying to figure out why her life is the way it is.

If I could change the title of any book I read it would be the book A Drowned Maiden's Hair by Laura Amy Schlitz to Maud, Story of a Unwanted Orphan. I would change it to that title because the original title has nothing to do with the story. I would make it that title because it's about a girl named Maud, who is an orphan who only wants to be loved.

I think that the book "A Little Princess" by Frances Hodgson Burnett should be named "A Poor Little Princess". Because in the book something terrible happens to Sara's father and she becomes poor and looses all of her belongings.

I have just finished a reallygreat book, however, at first the book was really dul and the cover did not make me want to read on. This book is called Code Orange by Caroline B. Cooney. If I could rename this book, I would call it Fatal Blow. I would call it this because the book is about a kid named Mitty who catches small pox and peple were saying how terrorists would use Mitty for a bionuclear war. This book was more than what the cover showed. Don't judge a book by its cover -Dante H

I have just finished reading a book called Tunnels, by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams. In this book the main character, Will burrows, finds a colony of people living underground so I would change the title to something more relevant like, The Colony.

I‘m reading a book called Exploding Gravy by X.J. Kennedy. I think Exploding Gravy is a good name for the book, but I also think, “The Humorous Elephant” would be also be a good name .This is because the book is about a lot of funny and unusual poems. The poems are supposed to have meaningful but funny messages. Since it needs to be funny and unusual, “The Humorous Elephant” would be a good title. (Caroline M period 1/3)

If I were to choose a book that I wanted the title to be changed it would probley be "Once apon a Marigold". I would change it to "Letters to Marigold" becuse I think it greater fits and describes the story because it is about a boy sending letters to a girl named Marigold.

If I could rename a book then I would rename the book Shakespeare's Secret by Elise Broach to The Mystery of the Murphy's Diamond because the book is telling more about the Murphy's diamond than Shakespeare. The book is about a girl named Hero, and she moves into a house where the Murphy's diamond is without knowing about it. Later on in the book, she finds out that the Murphy's Diamond is in her house so she searches and searches her property. At the end she finds the diamond but everything changes after that. So i think that the name The mystery of the Murphy's Diamond would really make a perfect name for this book.

I am reading "The Year Of The Dog" by Grace Lin. The book is about two Chinese girls that find that their friendships are alike and that they have a lot in common. If i could change the name of the book it would be called Friendship. this would fit the book better. i think that it wold fit it better because friendship is not all about being lucky, having longer lives, and being rich. etc. these friends really get a chance to try to understand a real friendship.

I think the book, Maximum Ride:Angel Experiment should be renamed :Run Angel, Run because really all the children are doing is running from society and evil mutant dogs.

I was reading a book called “Just As Long As We’re Together,” and I think that the title is perfect. In the book the three friends Alison, Stephanie, and Rachael each have different things that they have face. Most are terrible things. Some end up hating each other, but after a while they make up, and just as long as they are together, everything is good. When they are apart it really is bad without each other.

I just finished the book called, Ella Enchanted. I think the title could have been changed to something like "Breaking the Curse" or "All the Orders."

I would rename it because the book is about a girl named Ella who was put under a spell by a fairy. The curse is to be obedient, which seems okay, but it's not. Whenever someone gives an order, she has to obey it. Which is very dangerous in some ways. Such as, if someone told Ella, "Eat your foot," she would have to do it. Throughout the novel, she tries to break the curse so that she won't have to obey everyone's orders.

Like Emma Pearlstone said a little further up, the book called Once Upon A Marigold, should be called Letters To Marigold. They didn't title the book correctly. the prince keeps sending letters to the girl named Marigold.

The book that I just finished reading, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 had a great title, to me. I think it gives you an idea of what the books about, but then it's about way more than you thought! This is the sequal to the first one. But, if I had to change the name it would be called The Pants that fit Everyone! Because in the book even though the four girls were different sizes the pants fit all of them.

If I had to re-name a book I think it would be I'd Tell You I Love You but Then I’d Have to Kill You. Yes I do love this book and the title. The only thing is that the title is way too long for a book. It takes as much of the time to read the book as it does the title. This book fits the title, but maybe something like “Escape from Love”, or something along those lines.

If I could change a book title it would be Take Sky. I don't know why the author made that the title.I think is should have more description to show what all his poems are about.

I would rename the book Artemis Fowl. I would rename it to Artemis Fowl: A New Begining. I would make it that because Artemis discovers a fairy and then starts a relationship with their kind.

If I could change any books' title, I would change "Go ask Alice" to "A Look in the Mirror." I think that this is a better title because it throughout the enitre book, the main character is confused by what drugs have turned her into. This is also a better title, in my opinion, because when you look at yourself in the mirror, it shouldn't be a check to make sure that you look good, it should be a questioning look. A look asking, "Who am I really?"

If I had to change the title of a book I would change the name Pigman(I forgot who it is by) to Stories of Pigman because the book is about two teenagers telling stories about Pigman.
